How the 2025 Certified Board Connections Conference Inspired Me to Keep Raising the Bar for My Clients

As a financial advisor, one of my favorite things is getting to step out of my day-to-day routine and dive headfirst into new learning experiences—especially those that help me serve my clients even better. That’s exactly what happened when I attended the recent Certified Board Connections Conference in Chicago. I left the event more energized than ever to keep researching, learning, and implementing the best practices and investments I can find.

For Instance, estate planning is a topic that can feel daunting for many people, but I walked away from the conference with a number of new ideas on how to make these conversations more approachable and engaging. From interactive workshops to fresh communication strategies, I’m excited to incorporate these ideas in my practice so that my clients not only understand the importance of estate planning but feel empowered to take action.

Another really important aspect of our lives that isn’t going away is social media. Social media is everywhere, but in the financial world, it’s a double-edged sword. One of the big themes at the conference was using social media to share accurate, up-to-date financial information—and, just as importantly, to debunk misinformation. Hearing from experts about how to responsibly leverage these platforms was both eye-opening and motivating. I’m more committed than ever to being a source of trustworthy, relevant information for my clients online.

One of the highlights of any conference is getting to swap stories and strategies with other professionals. Listening to fellow CFPs discuss how they approach financial education reinforced something I believe deeply: There’s always more to learn. I picked up creative tactics for making financial literacy more accessible, whether someone is just starting out or preparing for retirement.

Daniel Sullivan’s session on key economic indicators was another standout moment. His thoughtful take on what to watch in the markets—and how to interpret those signals—gave me even more tools to help clients make informed decisions, no matter what the economic climate throws our way.

Walking away from the Certified Board Connections Conference, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. My clients deserve nothing less than the very best advice, grounded in the latest research and industry best practices. I’m already digging deeper into the new strategies I discovered and can’t wait to share them with you.

If you have questions about estate planning, financial education, or how the latest economic trends might affect your plan, I’m always here to help. Let’s keep the conversation going!
